Our Story

I love working with youth and helping them achieve their goals. Black, Hispanic, and other underserved youth have great talents and gifts but sometimes face insurmountable societal obstacles. I started Unabridged Academy because Black, Hispanic, and underserved populations have lower rates for healthcare outcomes, wage progression, and wealth attainment than their peers. After researching these issues, I began to understand that there has to be a holistic approach to overcoming the root causes of these disparities. I was moved to try my best to positively impact our youth so that they may have more promising futures.

Research shows that physical movement and wellness are important in eliminating chronic diseases. Further, exposure to information and skills that broaden a person’s perspective help develop resilience and reinforce a growth mindset. I am passionate about working with youth and understand that real change starts with our youth and thus, Unabridged Academy was born.

Unabridged Academy is designed to create an environment where youth shed societal expectations, redefine excellence, and thrive based on their passions and strengths. Unabridged means that there are no limitations or boundaries that confine our concept or the potential of our learners. I am personally invested in ensuring each of our learners achieves #UnabridgedExcellence! Change starts now.
